Italian website Tutto Mercato Web managed to interview agent Roberto De Fanti today, who’s been working on some deals with English clubs lately.

Their story is mostly focused on goalkeeper Jesse Joronen, who joined Brescia but had a big Premier League side interested in him, according to the agent.

The conversation also included Newcastle United loanee Achraf Lazaar, who has just joined Serie B side Consenza on a one-year loan spell.

The move to the second division club is mentioned by Tutto Mercato Web as a ‘surprise’, but De Fanti says they’re happy with the transfer.

“He spent a period where, willy-nilly, he played little. He needed a place that could guarantee him continuity, and the desire with which Cosenza requested him and treated him made the difference in the boy’s head.”

Quizzed about what went wrong with Newcastle, the agent didn’t want to blame any specific issue, and said his future should be decided at the end of the season.

“Many factors, even because it’s useless to look at the past. Making a conspiracy is easy, but let’s look ahead. We still have a year of contract at Newcastle, it expires in 2021. At the end of the season we will sit down with them and decide what to do: right now in his and our thoughts there’s only protagonist in Cosenza.”

Lazaar joined the Magpies on a €3m move from Palermo in 2016. This is his third loan, having been at Beneveto, Sheffield Wednesday and now Consenza.
