Moving back to France after a failed transfer to Newcastle, Henri Saivet looked set to rediscover the form that brought him to England in the first place.
Hurting his thigh during his team’s 1-0 victory over Bastia at the week-end, Christophe Galter, Saint-Etienne’s manager, confirmed on Tuesday during a press conference, relayed by Foot-Sur7, that Saivet would miss the next five weeks.
The Ligue 1 side are travelling to Nantes on Wednesday for some midweek Ligue 1 action, and with a handful of injuries already in the squad, the news isn’t the best for the fans.
Already experienced at 25, the former Bordeaux captain has 136 Ligue 1 games under his belt, picking up 17 goals and 10 assists over the course of a nine year career so far.
The midfielder joined Saint-Etienne on loan until the end of the season, and there is no option to buy, meaning the player will most likely return to Newcastle in June.
