Memphis Depay’s slippery slope seems to keep tipping ever vertical. A dismal half hour against Feyenoord last week, added to a handful of minutes in the Premier League, is all Depay has from his season so far.
The performance against Feyenoord surely won’t have got the player any closer to a Manchester United start in an important game, and it’s not even certain he’ll get in the starting eleven against Northampton on Wednesday.
Newcastle United’s Vurnon Anita, as well as several players based in the Netherlands, have been chosen ahead of him. Depay wasn’t included in the last international meet-up, and he’s not really getting football anywhere right now.
If things don’t change quickly then, for the sake of his career, Depay may have to accept he needs to leave Manchester United, even if only on loan.
