Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma seems pretty happy with his first season at the Premier League side.
Signed from La Liga club Levante in a €28m deal last summer, the Colombian international has made 24 appearances for The Cherries so far, quickly conquering a starting spot in the team.
Now called up to play international friendlies against Japan and South Korea, Lerma has spoken to his home country press about the feeling of returning to the national team, and also the good time he’s having at Bournemouth.
“There’s a lot of equality here, that’s the prettiest thing of the Premier League. It is one of the best leagues in the world. Here you can really enjoy football. It’s something that satisfies me,” Lerma told Kick Off, from Win Sports (via El Espectador).
“My family is very happy and proud of me. Here I am very happy because the club have received me very well and made me feel at home. The expectations of continuing to grow will always be there, but at the moment nothing is said about my departure. My reality is Bournemouth and I think of Bournemouth.”
“There are several of us who play in England and go to the national team. Mina is the one who I speak with the most, but we have not talked about the national team, we talk about the moment we live at the clubs.”
Lerma had been regularly called up to the Colombian national team in 2017 and 2018, having featured in all of the games in the World Cup in Russia. However, he’s been left out since the tournament, and now gets a big chance to make it to the squad for the Copa America later this year.
