Gigi Becali has been on a mission for quite some time to tell the world how good Dennis Man is and talk up transfer interest in the player.
In June, the owner of Steaua București claimed Manchester United were keen, after it had been reported that Jose Mourinho had visited Romania: “I know that Manchester, two months ago, was interested in Man and we asked about €30m. That’s what I ask. When they’re not for sale, I ask very much. I want to take a lot more money, not €30m. I do not want to sell him for 3, 5, 10. I want 30 to make his price, so I could get 60, 100, million.”
Becali speaks often and this time he’s told Sport.Ro that he’s received an offer for Man which matches the asking price: “The big surprise is that someone made an offer for Man at exactly the amount I asked for.”
The club boss didn’t name the club mentioned, although he insisted it’s a big side in a big league, and Sport.Ro have brought up Manchester United and Tottenham as possibilities based on previous links.
Man is 20 years of age and plays mainly as a right sided attacker. He’s a full international with Romania and highly rated in the country, hence Becali hoping for a €30m deal.
Time will tell if the offer does exist. It would be thought that if Man stays where is then this may be more marketing from Becali rather than a concrete bid.
