Once again, there’s less than positive news coming from the Portuguese camp about Bernardo Silva.
The Manchester City player has had niggles whilst on international before, but being an increasingly important player for his country he’s always determined to play when he can.
That won’t be the case against Poland in the UEFA Nations League this week, with O Jogo reporting Silva won’t play and is returning to England.
Unable to take part in training on Monday, it’s explained the City player has ‘physical problems’ and has been sent back to the Premier League club.
Silva is now ‘not an option’ for Fernando Santos, and Portugal will be thankful there’s not a lot resting on the game. The country have already won their section and qualified for the semi-finals which will be held in Portugal next year.
The FPF have published a statement on the Manchester City player, and explain: ‘Following medical and diagnostic tests performed by the FPF Health and Performance Unit, player Bernardo Silva was considered unavailable for the meeting against Poland, to be held this Tuesday in Guimarães.’
Pep Guardiola will be glad to have the player back, he’ll just wish it was under better circumstances.
