While this summer wasn’t one overly filled with Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United rumours, the France international’s indecision over his Atlético Madrid future did bring a few of them back.

Mostly touted to end up at Barcelona with Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembélé, the 27-year-old, via a documentary, announced his decision to keep playing under Diego Simeone at his current side, signing a new five-year deal in the process.

That being said, there’s still some time left in his career at club level, and a move to England might still be on the cards, depending on where Paul Pogba is in the next few years.

Speaking to Canal Football Club, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Griezmann explained his reasoning: “I spoke a lot with Pogba, but I’d taken my decision. It’s true that I’m tempted to play with him at club level one day and dedicate more time to him. He really is a very good friend.”

The pair often appear on each other’s social media when on international duty, and both have always said nice things about the other in interviews.

Widely touted to be one of the favourites for the Ballon d’Or, Griezmann also addressed the criticism he’s faced for speaking of his desire to win the award, mostly in France, while, he says, people in Spain aren’t bothered about it as much.

The Frenchman is Atlético Madrid’s top goalscorer in the league this season, scoring three goals and picking up three assists in 12 appearances.
