Everton ‘have asked’ about signing young midfielder Kamal Bafounta from Ligue 1 side Nantes, reports Ouest France.

Unfortunately for the French club they’re set to lose two talented youngsters this summer, with defender Ekwah Elimby also set to leave.

Ouest France says Elimby is heading for Chelsea, in a deal which they make sound done, and despite the Everton interest, Bafounta is currently likelier to head to Borussia Dortmund.

Both the footballers are 16 years of age, Bafounta is a midfielder and there’s previously been some hyped reports about his potential in the French media. Elimby is a defender.

Whilst Nantes will get €2m for Elimby, it’s explained they won’t be getting a transfer for Bafounta, because of his contractual situation, although they can likely expect training compensation.

Ouest France don’t explain why Borussia Dortmund are in the driving seat ahead of Everton, and there may be a chance for the Premier League club to make a late effort to win the transfer chase.
