Emiliano Sala is having a crazy few days, report L’Equipe in their Tuesday edition.
After months of negotiations, the 27 year old last week agreed to extend his contract with FC Nantes, but that doesn’t completely rule out a transfer.
The French newspaper say that ‘in recent hours’ Brighton & Hove Albion have made their interest known, and it’s been 66 ‘intense hours’ for Sala.
The Premier League club have made it clear they’ll submit an offer of more than €10m for the player but first wanted to know the potential for a deal if that happens.
Sala is said to have a great desire to play in the Premier League, as many footballers do, so he wanted some time to think about the Brighton approach.
After a ‘few hours’ of thought, L’Equipe say the Argentine decided to postpone a move to English football, and would rather stay at Nantes until the end of the season.
Of course, things could still change, but it’s not looking good for Brighton right now.
Emiliano Sala is a right footed forward with 9 goals and two assists so far this season. He holds an Italian passport so there’d be no worries about a work permit.
