Manchester City loanee Joao Cancelo could become a problem at Bayern Munich if he continues to be left out by manager Julian Nagelsmann between now and the end of the season.
That’s according to Kicker journalist Georg Holzner, who says the defender is unlikely to be happy with the current situation at the German champions.
Cancelo joined Bayern on loan from Manchester City at the end of the January transfer window in one of the surprise moves of the winter window.
He was initially thrust straight into the first-team and impressed but recently found himself sat on the bench for the win over VfB Stuttgart and only managed 45 minutes in the win over PSG in the Champions League.
Reports ahead of the second leg against the French side have indicated he will again miss out, with Nagelsmann preferring Josip Stanisic for the game.
That has seen claims Cancelo is ‘frustrated’ by the situation although remaining quiet for the time being. That could change soon for the Manchester City loanee, though, according to Holzner.
“I don’t think that’s going to be a problem for the Paris game or for the second leg, and that’s certainly the most important game right now,” he told Kicker.
“If Bayern progresses, a lot of things are very, very good. And if we don’t progress, then they have completely different problems than Cancelo.
“But of course he can’t be a substitute, he’s certainly got some embers there, where the whole thing can still flare up into some sort of fire at some point in the course of the season. I would see it that way.
“But now for the most important game, especially as far as Paris is concerned, I don’t think that’s a problem.”
