Wolves could find themselves caught in an unexpected transfer domino effect. This would involve another English club and one of Brazil’s biggest sides.
As we have been following closely, Aston Villa are pushing to sign Emerson Royal from Flamengo. Moreover, according to Brazilian outlet Radar da Bola, the Rio de Janeiro club are already considering potential replacements. This would happen should the move go through.
One of the names now being mentioned is Pedro Lima.
The 19-year-old has endured a difficult spell since joining Wolves from Sport Recife. He struggled for first-team opportunities at Molineux. In addition, he spent time with the club’s youth sides and also saw a loan spell with Porto come to an early end.
Radar da Bola report that Flamengo could look at Lima as a market opportunity if they are forced to replace Emerson Royal. The outlet stress there are currently no negotiations taking place. Nevertheless, the interest is there.
Earlier this week, Brazilian reports claimed Atlético Mineiro were exploring a season-long loan with a €4m (£3.4m) purchase option for Lima. Wolves were said to be waiting for possible European interest before making any decision on the player’s future.

What makes the Flamengo link different is the potential source of funding.
Aston Villa’s move for Emerson Royal could hand Flamengo the resources to pursue a replacement on a permanent basis. If the Brazilian club accepts Villa’s offer, they would have €9m (£7.7m) at their disposal. Pedro Lima would cost much less than that.
That creates a different scenario from some of the other proposals linked with Pedro Lima in recent weeks.
For Wolves, it is another sign that Pedro Lima continues to attract attention back home. The club recently brought him back from Porto and have yet to make a final decision on his next step.
If Aston Villa complete their move for Emerson Royal, that could end up creating an unexpected opportunity for the Wolves youngster.
