For a long time, the Portuguese media has been claiming that Benfica have an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to extend Gonçalo Guedes’ loan for a further year.
Even though it’s been reported this week that the player returned to England, it was said he was just sorting out details before returning to Lisbon and confirming his stay there.
It turns out that on Thursday, Wolves released a video where Guedes showed up with their squad. Now A Bola comes up to insist the transfer is still on.
The outlet writes that the player was indeed seen with his teammates from the Premier League side, but insists that the clubs have an agreement for a new loan.
Gonçalo Guedes is still recovering from a knee injury, and that’s why there’s no need for Benfica to have them at the club right now.
His recent surgery is exactly why the Eagles managed to get a new loan, as Wolves would have found it difficult to attract a buyer this summer.
Guedes’ contract with the Molineux side runs until 2027, so the reports about his future are far from over.
