Sporting and Wolverhampton Wanderers are about to close an agreement for the transfer of Ruben Vinagre, according to reports from Portugal.

Newspaper A Bola writes that the deal should be done this week, with the fullback heading to Alvalade on a one-year loan spell.

The outlet claims the transfer will include a purchase clause for the Lions, although it still isn’t known if that will be obligatory or optional.

With the interest from Benfica as well, it’s now said Sporting will ‘win the race’, since Vinagre will ‘no longer escape’ from them.

The negotiations are set to advance during the week, as the amount for the purchase clause is still to be discussed.

It’s said the price shouldn’t be very different from the numbers which have been reported lately, and that means between €8m and €9m.

Wolves are still expected to have a percentage over a future transfer.

Vinagre has a contract with the Molineux side until 2022, but it was in his last loan spell at Portimonense that he impressed other Portuguese clubs and convinced them to fight for his signing.
