Helping Switzerland see off France in a six goal thriller followed by a decisive penalty shootout, Granit Xhaka earned himself a lot of praise for his tenacious performance.

Playing in a defensive playmaker role, pinging quarterback style passes from deep all the while providing cover in front of his defence, the Arsenal owned midfielder appears set for a move to AS Roma.

A contract has already been agreed with the Serie A side, and yet no transfer has taken place, since neither club are willing to budge on their valuation of the Swiss.

That’s allowed Juventus to consider making a move for Xhaka, with Calciomercato.it claiming Max Allegri and co. have ‘set their eyes’ on the Arsenal man, ‘especially if they keep having difficulties with the Sassuolo operation for Manuel Locatelli’.

It’s stated Xhaka’s entourage are ‘continuing to receive interest’ from around Europe, and while their client ‘wants Roma’, he also ‘cannot wait forever for them’.

The last offer of €12m + €3m from the Rome based club wasn’t deemed enough, as Arsenal want ‘at least €20m’, and aren’t budging from that.

This could be a ploy from the Gunners to try and get Roma to get their behinds in gear, adding pressure along the way, but if not, then Juventus could quickly overtake them.
