Juventus are continuing to work on a potential deal for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho, with his wages the current big problem.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who report that Juventus are intensifying contacts with Jadon Sancho to try and get him from Manchester United this summer.
They explain that Sancho was in the Italian side’s sights 12 months ago, but United preferred to loan him to Chelsea because they were willing to cover Sancho’s wages.
The situation is slightly different. Juventus want to buy Sancho outright, but the issue remains his salary, which exceeds €10m net per season.
Juventus already have an agreement with Manchester United. They are working on two options, either an exchange including Douglas Luiz or a straight purchase for €25m plus bonuses.
But there is no agreement in place with Sancho. He has made it clear he is enthusiastic about the move and offered to reduce his salary, but the two parties are looking for a solution that suits everyone.
At the moment Juventus are offering €6-7m net but Sancho would like €8m. Juventus do not consider that to be sustainable, particularly as they need to reduce wages this summer not add to them.
The idea scenario would be to get rid of Dusan Vlahovic, who earns idea scenario would be to get rid of Dusan Vlahovic, who earns €12m a year, to help fund a deal for Sancho. They’ve also given Jonathan David €6-7m after signing him on a free transfer.
It’s a situation to be worked out, with Juventus perhaps needing to work harder to convince the Manchester United outcast to lower his demands.
