Manchester United and Barcelona are expected to hold talks in the coming days over a deal for Marcus Rashford.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that Barcelona haven’t given up on signing Rashford this summer.
They explain that Barcelona are activating Plan B after being turned down by Nico Williams. He signed a new contract at Athletic Bilbao this week to end a move to the Camp Nou.
Barcelona had lined up alternative options to the forward in case that happened, and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is one of them.
He wants to leave Manchester United this summer and is on a long list of players the club wants to move on to help balance their books.
Talks will now take place with Barcelona in the coming days to explore the feasibility of a deal. The current plan on the table is a loan with an option to buy.
According to FM’s information, Rashford is willing to make every effort to facilitate the transfer. He’s been busy stirring the transfer pot this summer, with comments about playing alongside Lamine Yamal going viral last month.
Indeed, the prospect of a move to Barcelona is nothing new and this report is just echoing what has been said in Spain and England over the last few weeks.
But with Williams’ rejection it seems Barcelona are stepping up their efforts for their alternatives and that will lead to talks with Manchester United in the coming days.
