On summer deadline day, Aston Villa allowed Enzo Barrenechea to join Valencia on loan, a month after signing him from Juventus.

He has been a regular for the La Liga club and played 24 games so far. On Thursday, the midfielder stated he fell in love with Los Ches “from the first day.”

It’s unclear where the Aston Villa man will play next season. Last month, we covered claims from Spain which stated the 23-year-old would like to continue at Valencia. They also said he’ll inform Aston Villa of his preference when they have to make a decision on him.

This claim has been partly backed up by Barrenechea during a chat with DAZN and El Desmarque have relayed his comments.

When asked whether he would like to continue in Spain, he said: “Well, without a doubt, although my pass [contract] belongs to Aston Villa, but nothing.

“I hope at some point, if it has to be next year or whenever, to stay in Spain. The truth is that it’s a very nice, very competitive league. The truth is that I’m gaining experience with this league, and I really like it.”

Barrenechea is aware Unai Emery’s side have the final say on whether to let him continue in Spain.

El Desmarque looked at what needs to be done for Valencia to retain the Argentine.

His development at Mestalla hasn’t gone unnoticed at the Spanish club and Aston Villa. The report adds the Villans are aware Barrenechea is happy at Valencia. They are 15th in La Liga table, four points above the relegation zone.

Valencia need to stay in the top division and once that’s secure, it’s possible for them to try to buy him or negotiate another loan deal with Aston Villa.
