Sheffield United narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season and that will inevitably make them even more determined to go up in the coming campaign.
For that, there needs to be transfer business and the Championship club are on the verge of securing an arrival from SC Braga in Portugal.
The man in question is El Hadji Djibril Soumaré.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at CD Nacional, where he mainly played as a defensive midfielder. Braga don’t see a major role for him with them and have therefore been happy to negotiate his move to Sheffield United.
Monday’s edition of O Jogo reports Djibril Soumaré is set to travel to England this week to sign for the Yorkshire club. He’s currently waiting for his visa to be approved and once that is sorted it’s believed he’ll be travelling.
According to O Jogo, Sheffield United are initially signing the young midfielder on a loan deal. There’s a clause which means that if the Blades are promoted then the move will automatically turn into a permanent transfer at a cost of around €10m.
