Southampton’s Jan Bednarek is set to complete a move to FC Porto.
That’s according to Monday’s edition of O Jogo, wit the Portuguese newspaper reporting the Dragons have reached a total agreement with both Southampton and the defender.
The Primeira Liga club will pay €7.5m, which is his release clause, to the Saints and have agreed a four-year contract with the centre-back.
Poland’s Meczyki initially relay claims made elsewhere about the Primeira Liga club edging closer towards completing the deal for the 29-year-old.
Their journalist, Tomasz Włodarczyk, then provides the latest on the centre-back’s move to Porto and insight into the clubs that showed interest in the Poland international.
He reports the Southampton player ‘boarded the plane this morning’ to Portugal, to carry out medical tests and sign the contract to complete a move to Porto.
According to Włodarczyk, the Pole had “very serious offers” from Ajax and unnamed Saudi clubs. Bednarek had considered these options but not Turkey’s Trabzonspor.
The defender is now set to seal a move to Porto.
