Over the weekend confidence grew that Leeds United could secure a deal to sign Igor Paixão from Feyenoord this summer.
The player’s camp had encouraged the Whites’ local media to believe a transfer was possible, and the Dutch club wanted to take advantage of a potential auction between Leeds United and Marseille.
Indeed, Feyenoord’s plan has been to get more for Paixão then they managed when selling Santiago Gimenez to AC Milan for around €32m.
Monday morning saw French newspaper L’Equipe report that after Leeds United had pushed ahead, Marseille were set to make one last offer to try and snatch the Brazilian attacker from the Premier League club’s clutches.
The French newspaper also pointed out Paixão and his camp had already agreed terms with the Ligue 1 side.
L’Equipe now report Marseille and Feyenoord have reached a full agreement for the 25-year-old. The fee being paid by the French club is €35m, and Paixão is said to have been given permission to travel to Marseille and complete the move.
