Manchester United are ready to make a move for Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali this summer in a €100m deal.

That’s the wild claim from Corriere dello Sport today, who say Manchester United are ready to compete with Juventus for the Italian.

They explain that having entered Juventus’ radar in recent months, Manchester United are the ‘new big contender’ for the midfielder’s signature.

The Reds Devils reportedly have an ambitious plan for the summer, based on them winning the Europa League and making it back into the Champions League, using the money from that competition.

If they have that money the intention is to put €100m on the table to convince Newcastle to sell their star man. Whether they’d be willing to do so, even for such a vast sum, is up for debate.

It’s also hard to see Manchester United making such a bid for Tonali given the money they’ve already spent on midfielders, Casemiro’s rebirth and the desperate need to spend such money elsewhere.

On the face of it, this claim is a wild one pulled from absolutely nothing and we’re sure Newcastle fans have little to worry about for the time being.
