Brighton & Hove Albion‘s Yasin Ayari wants the Premier League side to sign another player from AIK Fotboll, after securing Zadok Yohanna’s services in the summer.
The Seagulls signed the Sweden international from AIK in January 2023 and immediately sent him out on loan.
Three years later, Brighton returned to the Swedish club to sign the winger for around €28m. Yohanna’s rapid development at the Allsvenskan side had caught the attention of a few clubs.
However, the English club were able to overcome competition and acquire his signature. The 19-year-old has so far played only 12 minutes for his new club as an injury restricted his minutes.
Brighton have also signed Malick Yalcouyé from Swedish side IFK Göteborg in 2024. They sent him on loan before Fabian Hürzeler included the 20-year-old Ivorian in his core plans this season. Yalcouyé has played 381 minutes from eight matches and scored two goals.
Brighton man on helping young duo
The midfielder is on international duty and has been speaking to the Swedish media. Expressen have relayed his comments about Malick Yalcouyé and Brighton & Hove Albion’s summer signing.
Yasin Ayari enjoys playing alongside the Ivorian in the midfield and isn’t surprised with his impressive form so far.
“Fantastic fun actually. I don’t think many people believed it. It also came out of nowhere, that game against Chelsea. He wasn’t even supposed to start, then he started because I couldn’t play,” he said.
“He managed to do incredibly well and since then he has just flown and he got better and better every game.”
“I could actually see it. I liked his style of play and that he doesn’t care that much and just does his thing.”
On Zadok Yohanna, Ayari explained: “It’s nice to have someone who played in Sweden, who knows AIK, played with my brother too. So, it’s nice that he comes to Brighton and trains with us and plays with us.”
“I have tried to help him as much as I can. It’s hard to say [about his progress] either, he hasn’t played that many games.”

Asks Brighton to sign his brother
The 22-year-old midfielder has a contract until at the end of this season, with an option for another year. He’s unsure of his long-term future at The Amex.
However, that hasn’t stopped him from urging Brighton & Hove Albion to sign his brother, Taha Ayari, from AIK.
“My brother. When they feel like it,” he added.
Yasin believes his brother is ‘completely ready for it’ and now his current employer have to decide.
Taha is a left winger and has a goal and two assists from 11 matches this year. He has a contract until December 2028.
