West Ham United have seen a bid for Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto rejected, with the Brazilian side ruling out a January exit.
That’s according to journalist Neto, via Soutimao, who says that despite previous reports, West Ham will not be getting the striker in the winter window.
The Hammers are likely to enter the market for a new striker next month after Niklas Füllkrug’s struggles since arriving in the summer and Michail Antonio set for an extended spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg in a car accident.
Yuri Alberto has been linked with a move in Brazil for months, with several outlets and journalists, including Neto, insisting that they were interested in the striker.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for the Brazilian side this season, with 31 goals and seven assists in 57 games in all competitions and 57 goals and 18 assists in 148 games for them in total.
That had reportedly interested West Ham, who have been keen to explore the Brazilian market in recent years with various signings.
Neto, though, says such a transfer won’t be happening and that West Ham have already seen a bid rejected outright.
“I had said that he (Yuri Alberto) would be sold for £25m to West Ham, but that will no longer happen, because he will stay until the July 2025 window,” he is quoted as saying.
“Corinthians received an offer of €30m, but did not want to sell Yuri Alberto at that moment.”
