Austria manager Ralf Rangnick has included Leeds United’s Maximilian Wöber in his squad for the upcoming two World Cup qualifiers against Romania and San Marino in June.

The centre-back has been limited to 395 minutes from nine games for Leeds United this season and injuries have restricted his minutes.

Rangnick has been speaking to the Austrian media about the Leeds man and Wednesday’s edition of Kronen Zeitung relays his comments.

The manager said the 27-year-old isn’t struggling with an injury, but his fitness needs to be assessed at the national team training centre, probably because of his restricted role at Leeds.

“He [Maximilian Wöber] hasn’t had any problems recently, we have to see what’s possible in Seefeld,” he said.

The defender’s contract at Elland Road expires in 2027. It’s unclear whether his situation at Leeds will improve, especially after their promotion to the Premier League.

Back in February, we covered claims from Austria which stated he could leave the Whites in the summer window. If Rangnick were to give him minutes against Romania and San Marino, Wöber could use it to try and attract potential suitors.

There may be movements around his future after Austria’s matches in June.
