Brazilian attacker Lucas Moura today had a word about his summer departure from Tottenham Hotspur.
The São Paulo player was interviewed by ESPN Brasil, and among the many questions, there was one about his final year at the London side.
Moura admitted that things hadn’t been great in his last season at Tottenham. Still, he talked about his big affection for the club, insisting he’ll keep great memories from there.
“Well, it was actually a very complicated year. Particularly speaking, it was a difficult year for me, where I had few opportunities. And I ended up being out of some games because of an injury I had. And also in the collective, the team was not very good,” Lucas Moura told ESPN Brasil.
“But unfortunately this last year I haven’t been able to play much. What is part of… which happens in the lives of many players. But that’s it. Everything I lived there, everything I went through there, I am very grateful. I have a huge affection for all employees, now is a new stage of my life.”
Lucas Moura left Tottenham at the end of his contract this summer. Many stories had claimed that his preference was to stay in Europe, but he ended up moving back to Brazil, returning to São Paulo.
He only signed a six-month deal with the club, and his spell has been great so far. Last week, in the Copa do Brasil semifinals, he scored a goal in the derby against Corinthians, and came out as the hero of their qualification for the final.
That’s a title São Paulo don’t have, so despite the little time he may stay at the club in this spell, he’s close to achieving big things there.
