After missing out on Maxi Gomez this summer, West Ham have turned their attention towards Sebastien Haller.
The Hammers need a striker after Marko Arnautovic moved to China and the Frankfurt striker is the man they have identified as the ideal signing.
At first, it seemed they would be disappointed in their pursuit ,with Haller seemingly setting his heights a little bit higher. Indeed, we covered one of his teammates rubbishing the suggestion he’d move to the London Stadium.
However, according to L’Equipe, that has now changed. They report Haller has had a change of heart about the move to the Premier League.
Haller was initially reluctant but has been convinced. They say that agent Willie McKay has ‘an unusual persuasive power’ and has been working on the move for several days.
They confirm that Haller had wanted to move to a Champions League club but his agent has convinced him otherwise and the deal is now progressing.
The two clubs have an agreement for €40m and contractual discussions have already begun and will continue. In fact, such is their confidence the deal will go through, Frankfurt have begun the search for a replacement.
That points to a positive conclusion to this move for West Ham, who have moved quickly to not only secure the substitute for Gomez but replace Arnautovic as well.
