Paris Saint-Germain’s Illia Zabarnyi is back on Tottenham Hotspur‘s radar, a year after the Premier League side showed interest.
The Champions League winners signed the 23-year-old from AFC Bournemouth in August 2025.
He had an opportunity to continue in the Premier League by joining Spurs or Newcastle United.
Last summer, Sport Witness covered claims from France that Tottenham and the Magpies were ready to meet the Cherries’ €70m demand. The duo weren’t successful because the centre-back wanted to join PSG and eventually secured a move.
PSG player option for Tottenham

The latest claims from the UK state the Ukraine international is a target for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
Terrikon in Ukraine picks up on that and covers their own updates on Tottenham Hotspur’s interest.
The Premier League side recently sold Cristian Romero to Atlético Madrid, and the PSG man is an option to replace him.
Spurs have expressed interest in Illia Zabarnyi, without making further advances.
For now, the defender is a target. Should there be negotiations between the two clubs, it will be most likely for a loan move.
It’s unclear whether the English club will make advances while his future in Paris remains uncertain. The outlet says there’s a ‘very real possibility’ of him leaving PSG this summer.
Regular minutes at Tottenham unlikely
Spurs have already signed Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke in this window, and Micky van de Ven recently signed an improved long-term contract.
Roberto De Zerbi has the aforementioned trio, Kevin Danso, Ben Davies and Kota Takai as the centre-backs at his disposal.
Illia Zabarnyi would struggle for a prominent role under De Zerbi if he were to arrive at Tottenham Hotspur.
If he has no place at PSG, the Ukrainian has to find a club that will assure him regular game time this season.
Last season, he played 2,780 minutes from 37 matches and 213 minutes were from seven Champions League matches.
This season, the defender didn’t feature in the UEFA Super Cup win over Aston Villa and then played the full 90 minutes in the Trophée des Champions defeat to RC Lens.
