Tottenham Hotspur‘s Pape Sarr was linked with a host of clubs over the previous week. Juventus have now sealed the deal for the midfielder.
On Sunday, Sport Witness covered how the Old Lady made quick progress to sign Sarr. The deal was one step away from completion with Juve awaiting Spurs’ final approval to the initial loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
Sarr had given his go-ahead to the move and personal terms were also in place for the deal.
Now, progress has been made and the player is set to leave Tottenham.
Medical taking place today
Gianluca Di Marzio reports an update, noting that Spurs have given the green light for the transfer.
The deal will cost Juve €30m and this includes the loan fee and the conditional obligation to buy. This will be triggered if Juve qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League or if the 23-year-old plays 50% of the Italian side’s total games in the campaign.
An agreement has been reached within 24 hours of the Bianconeri’s first concrete attempt.
The journalist expects Sarr to fly to Turin today and undergo his medical soon after.
Initially, Tottenham were seeking more guarantees to let the player depart and this was causing a hold-up. Juve’s attempt to change the terms of the conditional obligation has worked in their favour.
Our take: Great move for the player
Sarr is desperate for game time and Juve should fulfill that demand.
Khephren Thuram picked up a knee injury and could soon undergo surgery. Teun Koopmeiners scored at the weekend but he remains on the fringes of the project.
This can make sure the Tottenham player gets a starting spot under Luciano Spalletti. He will also play as a number eight, which brings more out of his strengths.
