With Leeds United recently losing to Nottingham Forest, Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta decided enough was enough, and sacked Jesse Marsch.
That’s despite the club backing the American manager in the January transfer window, as another American arrived in Yorkshire in Weston McKennie, while a large sum of money was spent on Georginio Rutter.
Still, that wasn’t enough to give Marsch the time he will have wanted to turn Leeds’ fortunes around, and the club will now undergo a process to find a replacement, with West Bromwich Albion’s Carlos Corberan and Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou already being named in the media.
This comes from TuttoMercatoWeb in Italy claiming as an exclusive three names who are seen as the ‘first hypotheses’.
While ‘the first rumours about a return of Marcelo Bielsa’ so far ‘find little confirmation’, Orta is a ‘great admirer’ of the current West Brom manager.
As well as the Spaniard, there is Steven Gerrard, who is said to be ‘among the profiles’ Leeds have ‘paid attention to’.
There is a third name, and that is the one of Ange Postecoglou, although you would have to feel that is the most difficult to pull off, as Celtic are doing rather well in the Scottish Premiership under the Australian.
As things stand, West Brom, under Corberan, currently sit sixth in the Championship, having won 12 games from a possible 29, and are one point behind Watford with a game in hand.
Celtic under Ange Postecoglou, meanwhile, have a nine point lead on Rangers after 25 games, winning 23 of those, drawing one and losing the other.
