Earlier this week, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who stated Brighton & Hove Albion are considering Espanyol’s Adrià Pedrosa to replace Marc Cucurella.

The Seagulls sold Cucurella to Chelsea for a club-record fee and are in the market to find his successor.

Saturday’s edition of AS explains Brighton have tested the ground for Pedrosa, who ‘could leave’ the La Liga side this summer. They also added ‘both sides are talking’.

Online, AS provide more information on this case, after backing up Mundo’s claim from Thursday.

They have managed to confirm from both English sources and from the 24-year-old’s environment that Brighton have been ‘interested in signing’ him. In addition to this, ‘there are talks’, likely with the fullback and his camp cause Graham Potter’s side made ‘contact’ with him.

Some of these conversations could have occurred after Pedrosa’s representatives met Espanyol last week to discuss their client’s renewal. His current deal runs down in 2023.

Pedrosa was close to leaving the Spanish club for Club Brugge for around €8m last summer, but the deal didn’t take shape. With the Seagulls showing interest in the player, it remains to be seen what fee Brighton will offer Espanyol to take the defender.
