Rangers are set to miss out on the signing of Paris Saint-Germain youngster Oumar Camara, with the 17-year-old now heading to Vitória Guimaraes instead.
That’s according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who reports that Camara has now decided to move to Portugal instead of Ibrox.
He reports that the youngster is set to sign a four-year deal with Vitória Guimaraes and has already undergone a medical with them.
The young striker was expected to join Rangers this summer but Hawkins reports that the arrival of new sporting director Kevin Thelwell at Ibrox has ‘shaken things up’.
That echoes a report we covered on the 9th from L’Equipe, which also stated that Camara had changed his plans.
That report made it clear that despite having an agreement in principle with Rangers, the arrival of 49ers Enterprises and appointment of Russell Martin had changed his plans. Now Thelwell has been thrown into the blame game as well.
Whether the decision was made by Rangers or Camara remains unclear. Either way, he’ll no longer be heading to Scotland and now has his path laid out for him in Portugal instead.
