Leicester City are about to complete the signing of Montpellier winger Stephy Mavididi, according to reports from the French media.

L’Equipe writes that the 25-year-old should join the Foxes ‘in the coming days’ following an agreement between the clubs for the move.

Mavididi’s contract with Montpellier would expire next year, and that’s why they may have been under pressure to agree his sale, having now accepted an offer from Leicester City.

The French club had spent €6m to sign him from Juventus in 2020. In three years at the Ligue 1 side, he had 21 goals and five assists in 98 appearances.

Leicester City are reportedly handing him a four-year contract.

Following the relegation to the Championship, the Foxes have been losing more players than they managed to sign so far. Since the window opened, they managed to sort the arrivals of Harry Winks, Conor Coady and Mads Hermansen.

The signing of Mavididi comes up as a bit of a surprise, as the French media hadn’t been linking him to Leicester City lately.

Last year, the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham were said to be interested in his signing.
