Liverpool are still keen on signing Yankuba Minteh and Brighton & Hove Albion are waiting for the Reds to make a decisive move before the window closes next Tuesday.
That’s according to journalist Foday Manneh. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover the latest on Liverpool’s pursuit of the winger.
Liverpool already made two offers to Brighton

The Reds have been stepping up in their ongoing pursuit of the 22-year-old over the past week or so. However, they haven’t found an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion yet.
Below is the timeline of events of Liverpool’s attempts to sign the Gambia international:
- Brighton already rejected opening £50m [€58.4m] proposal
- Merseyside club returned with £60m [€70m] bid
- Brighton again rejected it and requested £70m [€81.7m]
- PL duo continued negotiations, optimism of concluding operation
Three days ago, Manneh, via Footy-Africa, reported Andoni Iraola’s side would soon table a new bid of €81.7m. Minteh’s agent Bakary Bojang is taking British agency CAA Stellar’s assistance to facilitate this operation.
Liverpool unhappy with Brighton’s new stance
Foday Manneh states Fabian Hürzeler’s side haven’t ‘communicated their stance’ and are waiting to find out Liverpool’s next move.
After addressing a few issues that arose, likely between the two clubs, the winger awaits the Anfield club to make advances. There’s no clarification on what those issues were, while the Reds continue to pursue the Brighton & Hove Albion player.
The journalist states: ‘[Liverpool] are still considering their next move after deciding on Monday to carefully assess their approach to Brighton with still days to go in the window.’
In another post on X, he reports the Seagulls set a deadline of Tuesday for a £72m [€84.1m] bid. Liverpool didn’t make this offer and Brighton have raised Yankuba Minteh’s price to £80m [€93.5m].
Andoni Iraola’s side, who are ‘still interested’, have made a ‘significant decision’. They have no intention of offering over £70m [€81.7m] and won’t make further advances until Brighton lower their demand.
In short, the Reds want to sign Minteh for €81.7m and the ball is now in The Amex club’s court.
