This week, a few stories in the Brazilian media claimed local clubs are interested in signing Lyanco from Southampton.
Those rumours were fuelled by the player’s reported wish of going back to his home country. His intention would be to get more playing time and even try to get a chance to play for the national team.
Now as Goal Brasil features an update on those attempts, they claim that Southampton are actually not interested in letting the defender go.
They bring a story claiming Vasco da Gama made an approach, as they’d like to sign him on a loan deal.
Southampton, however, are not keen on letting him move to Brazil. It’s even said that Lyanco himself doesn’t have a ‘decision’ about a move to his home country, and would leave that in the hands of the club.
The Saints spent €7.5m to sign Lyanco from Torino last year, and it would indeed be strange to let him leave for Brazil on loan, as isn’t a youngster who needs experience and wouldn’t see his market value grow there either. His contract with the club runs until 2025.
