Southampton are one of the clubs chasing Paris-born youngster Alpha Diallo, according to Le10 Sport.
Two months ago, the attacking midfielder signed his first professional contract with Bordeaux.
A month later, the French club announced that they have given up their “professional status”, and were subsequently relegated to Championnat National 2, the fourth tier of French football.
Bordeaux’s complicated situation has seen several clubs circle around them. This includes Southampton, who have their eyes on the 18-year-old.
Diallo is being closely monitored by several English clubs but only Russell Martin’s side are mentioned in the report.
It’s further claimed the Saints have ‘already sent a proposal’ to sign the teenager. Le10 add Southampton will have to tussle with RC Lens and Lyon as the Ligue 1 duo are also in the picture to sign him.
Diallo is available as a free agent and therefore any offers will be to his camp and not Bordeaux.
On July 26th, Sud Ouest reported Bordeaux giving up their professional status means all their players’ contracts will be terminated. It will result in ‘loss of accreditation for the training centre’ that has 70 youngsters, and they will also be released.
