Unable to find himself a spot in Brendan Rodgers’ plans at Leicester City, Dennis Praet, instead of sitting on the bench at the King Power Stadium, decided he was best off going out on loan somewhere.
Having impressed at Sampdoria, a return to Italian football seemed like the best bet, with Torino granting him a chance to play regularly.
He’s started 12 of a possible 17 games in Serie A since then, but a recent foot injury has seen his season end early, and raised a lot of questions about his future.
The player told DH back in October that he ‘must have something Brendan Rodgers doesn’t like’, and the same outlet now wonder what will come of the midfielder.
Already suffered a leg injury earlier on in the season, the latest setback ‘could cool the leaders of Torino’, who will ‘have to make a decision in the coming weeks’, as they have an option to buy the Belgium international.
If they don’t, however, then a decision will need to be made: ‘to be directly transferred elsewhere, or to return to try and impose himself’ at Leicester, ‘knowing that Rodgers could no longer be on the bench next season’.
That last comment comes from the recent speculation that if the Norther Irish manager cannot get the Foxes back up the Premier League table, it could mean the end of his time at the King Power Stadium, with the club currently 11th after their 2-2 home draw against West Ham.
Something to keep in mind as Torino weigh up the pros and cons of keeping Praet.
