Last week saw claims from Spain cover Aston Villa interest in Marc Pubill. It was also stated the Levante UD player’s entourage expect the Premier League side to make a formal bid to sign him.
The 20-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs, including the Villans and UD Almería. Super Deporte say the latter have made a €4m bid while Aston Villa are following him closely.
It’s claimed the right-back is ‘highly regarded’ by Monchi, and the Aston Villa transfer guru has already held talks with Levante sporting director Felipe Miñambres.
The report states it was a ‘simple query’ from Monchi, and he hasn’t yet made an offer for the Spaniard. That’s because Aston Villa don’t consider him for this summer and view him as a target for the future.
Unai Emery has Matty Cash and Calum Chambers for the right-back position and if one of them were to leave, Super Deporte say the manager plans to move Diego Carlos or Ezri Konsa to the right side of defence.
In other words, the Villans have the position well covered and will ‘not make a move’ for the youngster this summer.
Therefore, the outlet says ‘there is no operation underway’ to take Pubill to Aston Villa. At the same time, they don’t rule out the player arriving in England in the future, either at Villa or at another club.
Monchi is playing the long game.
