Italian duo Monza and Parma have offered Glasgow Rangers €7m for winger Djeidi Gassama, but Derek McInnes’ side want more.
Foot Mercato report that Rangers are open to a deal but want to earn more for the 22-year-old in any potential sale.
The French website reports that, after Monaco made an attempt to sign Gassama in the January transfer window – they offered a loan deal at the time – interest in him is now coming from Italy.
€7m rejected
They state that their information is that the former PSG academy player is attracting significant interest from Italy. Serie A duo Monza and Parma have offered €7m for the left-winger.
His current deal runs until 2029, though, meaning Rangers are in no rush to sell for a reduced fee. The Scottish club are holding out for a higher fee instead.
They paid €2.4m to sign Djeidi Gassama from Sheffield Wednesday last year and ant a bigger sum to sanction his exit from Ibrox this summer. There is no mention of what fee they are looking for at this moment in time. Transfermarkt currently value the winger at €7m.
It remains to be seen if Monza or Parma make second offers, or further enquiries, to try and discover the price Rangers will sell at.
Rangers regular
Djeidi Gassama has been a regular for them since his arrival last year, making 61 appearances – with 10 goals and seven assists – in that time.
He has also started this season featuring regularly under McInnes, with five appearances and 292 minutes under his belt so far. He is one of two left-wing options in the current squad, alongside Findlay Curtis.
That is perhaps why Rangers are resistant to a sale at present. They would presumably like to know they’re getting a good deal before weakening themselves at this stage of the window.
