New Girona signing Yaser Asprilla has admitted his manager Míchel has already told him he will be asking more from him than Watford did.

Asprilla has been speaking to Cadena SER about his move to Spain after joining the Spanish side earlier this week.

The 20-year-old has joined Girona in an €18m deal after a busy summer that saw him linked with moves all over Europe.

He arrives as a replacement for Savinho, who had been the star of the show for them last season but moved to Manchester City earlier this summer.

The move brought an end to a two year stay at Watford, where he made 86 appearances in total, scoring seven goals and registering 10 assists.

He’s long been considered one of the players to keep an eye on in the future, with many predicting a bright future for him.

The question is whether he can now kick on at Girona under the guidance of Míchel, who has already developed several players during his time at the club. Savinho is a clear example of that fact.

And it seems he’s made his opinion clear to Asprilla, warning him he’s expecting more from him in Spain.

“I have spoken to him, and he is asking me for more than what I was giving to Watford,” the player told Cadena SER.

“He tells me to enjoy myself, within the demands, but that he is calm because he knows the performance I can give.

“I will be calm and play how the coach tells me. I have felt good with the group in these days and they have helped me a lot. Playing in the Champions League is a blessing, a childhood dream.”
