On Thursday, Corriere della Sera reported on Leeds United interest in AS Roma striker Artem Dovbyk.
The report revealed the Italian side are seriously considering the Ukrainian’s sale and would need €40m to let him depart.
Gazzetta dello Sport report further on the 28-year-old today and note that after having recovered from a muscle injury, he returned to action from Roma in a friendly against Cannes yesterday.
Whilst he did score, the newspaper report he looked sluggish and didn’t link-up with his teammates well. He also didn’t appear clinical in front of goal.
Leeds United have scouted the Ukraine international and there is also interest from Villarreal, with the Giallorossi already hunting for replacements in the market.
It has been indicated that Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini doesn’t see Dovbyk as a fit for his system and this is why an exit is being considered.
The report should come as a warning to Leeds United though, especially since the ex-Girona player has struggled with fitness problems in recent months. There were similar issues during the 2024/25 campaign.
That is why shelling out a fee of €40m could be too much for Dovbyk, even if he showed glimpses of his quality last season.
