It’s no exaggeration to say around half the Premier League have been linked with Richard Ríos and that his reported price at Palmeiras has fluctuated from $20m to £85m and back again in various reports over the past year.

In January of this year, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton were linked and it was stated they’d need $20m should they want to buy the midfielder during that month.

In May, Fulham were linked and the cost was €21m.

Last week, Nottingham Forest, who have been linked the most in claims which feel like they’ve been going on for years, were said to be keen once again and a potential price was put at €40m.

The claims of a higher asking price came when Manchester United were dragged into the reckoning for a few reports, and the figures related to what is thought to be his buyout clause.

Those are not the only Premier League clubs to be credited with interest in Richard Ríos, and the links don’t appear to have helped his reputation. If that was the aim from agents – to encourage endless rumours and links with Premier League clubs to hype their man – it hasn’t worked.

Indeed, it’s perhaps even left the Colombian underrated rather than overrated, with eyes rolling at every new report. Richard Ríos has been one of the better performers at the FIFA Club World Cup, and at 25-years-of-age it’s a great time for him to move to Europe.

AS reported over the weekend that Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace are closely watching his performances. They’ve been monitoring him action for Palmeiras in domestic football and at the Club World Cup.

According to the report, Palmeiras don’t want to sell but ‘everything has a price’ and that price for Richard Ríos is €25m+.

Another new figure to throw into the mix.

Palmeiras face Inter Miami at 2am on Tuesday and a good performance in that game can get the player’s random price generator heated up again.
