Moussa Niakhaté is about to leave Nottingham Forest for Lyon, according to today’s reports from France.
FootMercato writes that the Ligue 1 side are ‘on the verge of completing’ the signing, having already scheduled his medical.
Lyon are believed to be beating some heavy competition for the Nottingham Forest player, as it’s said that Lille and Crystal Palace were also interested in Niakhaté.
The report claims that the French club will be paying €15m for the signing, others have put it a little higher. That will help the Tricky Trees to make a big sale before the end of the financial year.
Something interesting in this story is that Niakhaté reportedly took some advice from Orel Mangala, who belongs to Nottingham Forest and spent the past few months on loan at Lyon.
Niakhaté struggled to hold a starting spot at City Ground this season, as despite his 23 appearances, he had long sequences on the bench.
That may be a reason why he ‘rejected’ Crystal Palace and Lille, as Lyon assured him of a prominent role.
