Newcastle United are planning a structural shift in their recruitment strategy, and ESPN Brazil reports that the club will launch a dedicated project focused on the Brazilian market from 2026.
The Premier League side want to become a major force in the chase for Brazilian talents aged up to 22. They also expect to invest heavily once the summer window opens.
Ross Wilson will lead the initiative. He recently left Nottingham Forest and will take over as Newcastle’s sporting director. ESPN state that he took nine Brazilian players to Nottingham Forest between 2023 and 2025.
Newcastle United believe he can apply a similar approach at St James’ Park. The club want young prospects who can develop in the Premier League and later generate resale value. They also plan to compete with other English sides for the most promising talents in the country. The idea is to enter the scouting and negotiation process much earlier.
Recent links in Brazil helped illustrate the type of player Newcastle want. Reports connected the club with Rayan, from Vasco, and Allan, from Palmeiras, during 2025. Both fit the age profile and carry the high-upside potential outlined by this new story.
ESPN add that Newcastle do not expect to act in Brazil during the January 2026 window. If they do move, they will target more experienced players already established in Europe.
The wider plan for the Brazilian market should begin in the summer. The next steps depend on how quickly Wilson shapes the club’s broader recruitment model.
