The season has barely started, and it seems Manchester United will keep their old scouting habits for another year.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, the Red Devils watched Porto’s match against Farense at the weekend.
Manchester United scouts saw the Dragons’ thrilling 2-1 victory, with the home side finding their winner after 10 minutes of stoppage time.
O Jogo doesn’t seem to know whether the Red Devils had specific targets in this match. It’s just said that they were followed by scouts from Paris Saint Germain, Watford, Eibar and Bologna.
It’s also hard to tell whether Manchester United are just watching players for the upcoming transfer window, or if they’re still keeping an eye for potential reinforcements before the end of the summer market.
Erik ten Hag’s side have been linked to a Dragons’ player in the past few months, and that’s Mehdi Taremi. The player was actually expected to leave the club, but so far, none of the interested sides showed up to pay the €30m demanded by the Portuguese side.
Since it looks like Manchester United need to reinforce their attack, maybe they’re still keeping an eye on him. He’s the obvious target for the officials who travelled.
The Red Devils had also been linked to goalkeeper Diogo Costa, but following their investment on Andre Onana, it’s safe to say that possibility is now gone.
