Back in October, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Manchester United have a strong interest in signing Atalanta star Giorgio Scalvini.

Fast forward to December and Alfredo Pedullà provides the latest on the Serie A side’s stance on the possibility of parting ways with the defender next month.

The centre-back’s performances for the Italian club have seen Manchester United and others take notice.

Pedullà says that several top clubs are chasing the 20-year-old and after Atlético Madrid, it’s now the Red Devils and Real Madrid who ‘appreciate him’.

The Italy international’s contract lasts until 2028 and the journalist explains that ‘barring sensational surprises’ and a ‘crazy offer’, Atalanta have postponed any discussions over his potential sale until next summer.

There’s no indication if Erik ten Hag’s side or another interested party are willing to make a ‘crazy offer’ to secure Scalvini’s services in the winter market.

Pedullà doesn’t mention what’s fee is deemed as ‘crazy’ by the Italian club. Last month, Tutto Atalanta explained that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side ‘could sell’ the player for a fee close to €50m.

Scalvini has scored one goal and registered an assist from 20 games this season.
