Julen Lopetegui is back on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ agenda, according to a report from Spain.
It’s been a month since the Premier League side parted ways with Bruno Lage and they are yet to appoint his permanent successor.
Wolves have appointed Steve Davies as interim coach as they continue to search for a new manager. Their efforts are set to yield a result soon if a claim from El Partidazo de COPE is to be believed
Journalist Juanma Castaño now explains that Lopetegui is ‘close to being the new coach of Wolverhampton’. The 56-year-old has been without a job since Sevilla showed him the exit door on October 5th.
The former Real Madrid boss had turned down an approach made by Wolves last month. The situation has now changed as the journalist claims Lopetegui will ‘accept the offer’ from the English club after ‘solving a personal problem’.
Castaño doesn’t specify what was the ‘personal problem’ for the Spaniard, but now that it has been solved, Lopetegui will accept Wolves’ proposal. He ‘will be the next manager’ of the Premier League side.
