Liverpool are preparing a second bid for Hugo Ekitiké after seeing their first offer rejected by Eintracht Frankfurt 36 hours ago.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that Liverpool are leading the race for Ekitiké after seeing their first bid rejected.

The journalist makes no mention of the transfer figures at this moment in time but does report that Frankfurt want a deal done quickly and ‘increase the price’ for the striker. Reports throughout the summer have indicated that they want at least €100m for the Frenchman if they are to sell.

BILD suggest that there is no such rush yet, though, with sporting director Markus Krösche relaxing on Crete and board spokesman Axel Hellmann currently enjoying a club holiday on Fuerteventura.

They do say that Liverpool have entered the race for the striker and contAacted Frankfurt before adding that the German side would prefer any negotiations don’t drag on this summer.

They will also not accept any offer from a club until there is an agreement between Ekitiké and that club. Agent Ali Barat has been called in to arrange the move. Reports elsewhere today have stated that Liverpool have an agreement on a six-year deal with the striker.

That would suggest Eintracht are happy to do a deal with Liverpool now then, even if their first bid has been rejected.

Reports in England had put the total package at around €80m but BILD say Newcastle’s bid for the same value was rejected so it’s hard to see that being accepted from Liverpool.

It’s a quickly developing situation and it remains to be seen what the value of that second bid from the Premier League champions will be.
