Sporting’s Zeno Debast has ended up on Liverpool’s transfer agenda.

That’s according to Voetbal Nieuws, who report the Premier League winners are keen on the centre-back. Thursday’s edition of Record also report Liverpool have included the 21-year-old in their target list.

Record say they’ve taken the information from Belgium and managed to have it backed up.

Last summer, the Merseyside club came close to securing Marc Guéhi’s services, but the move collapsed. The defender is still at Crystal Palace, where he has a contract until the end of this season.

The Reds continue to chase Guéhi but face competition from other clubs. Faced with this situation, Liverpool are looking at alternatives, and this is where Debast comes into the picture.

He joined the Lions from Anderlecht in July 2024 for €15.5m plus €5.5m bonuses. Ruben Amorim was then in charge, and the report states the Belgium international was the ‘express request’ of the former Sporting manager.

Anderlecht are entitled to receive 15% of profit from the defender’s future sale. Clearly, they’re pleased with Liverpool links.

As well as Debast, Liverpool are said to have Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande, Newcastle United’s Sven Botman and PSG’s Willian Pacho in their list.

Whether this is a genuine Liverpool alternative or simply a hype effort from Debast’s camp is unclear. When the defender was moving to Sporting, it felt like some Premier League claims were thrown in to hurry that transfer along.
