Liverpool have been provided an open route to complete the double signing of Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain, as the French giants have now changed their stance.
The print edition of Le Figaro reports that the Champions League holders are firmly focused on departures at this moment in time as they continue a squad refresh this summer.
PSG open to selling
PSG have stood firm with recent deals, eventually getting what they wanted for Randal Kolo Muani, who has joined Juventus. They also go favourable deals for Goncalo Ramos and Kang-in Lee.
They intend to do so with Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, who are both on Liverpool’s radar. Both players are ‘almost certainly’ set to leave in the next two weeks.
Neither was in the squad for the game against Lens and ‘that speaks volumes’ according to Le Figaro. While there is a chance negotiations could fall through, the likelihood is low.
Liverpool transfer opportunity
The newspaper explains that in the past, PSG would have turned a deaf ear to offers for someone like Barcola. The fact he is under contract until 2028 helps with that. But not anymore.

“If a player doesn’t really want to come, or isn’t smiling while he’s here, it’s better to find another solution,” Luis Enrique recently explained. The Spanish coach only wants players who are 100% committed to the cause.
What that means is that both players are up for sale. PSG are willing to listen to offers for both. Barcola, for his part, is tired of being PSG’s 12th man.
Mbaye is ‘chomping at the bit’ to be given a chance. That’s unlikely to come in the form he wants in the French capital.
So, the doors are being opened and the pathway made clear. It now remains to be seen if Liverpool can work out deals for both players to take advantage of PSG’s new stance.
