It appears that Liverpool are already making their move to get their defence a bit more solid next season.
That’s according to Le Parisien, who explain that the Reds are ‘pressing the most’ to get a deal done for the Sporting CP star.
In fact, unlike other Premier League clubs, Liverpool have ‘already started discussions’ to try and understand how feasible a transfer this summer would be.
Down the player’s end, it’s said the defender can see himself giving a ‘new boost’ by going to the Premier League, which certainly helps Liverpool.
As for the price, the general consensus has been that Sporting CP will want the amount of his release clause, set at €45m, paid to allow him to go.
That’s a fair bit of money, but after this season, it’s clear Liverpool need to do some serious work on the transfer market, with their backline one of the areas they have highlighted as needing new personnel to help Virgil Van Dijk.
